THE AURAL MOUNT RUSHMORE OF JAZZ FUSION: MASTERED FROM THE ORIGINAL MASTER TAPES, PRESSED AT RTI ON MOFI SUPERVINYL, AND HOUSED IN A LAVISH BOX !\r\n
      \r\n
"Listen to This". As the original working title for Bitches Brew, the instruction and invitation resonates to this day as the best way to approach a record that shattered conventions, altered music history, and, more than 50 years later, still sounds far ahead of its time. The aural Mount Rushmore of jazz fusion, Bitches Brew is rightly ranked by virtually every significant press outlet among the 100 greatest albums ever made. Sewn together with vibrant colors, voodoo textures, and ethereal moods, the 1970 landmark emerges with supreme detail and nonpareil feeling on Mobile Fidelity's UltraDisc One-Step 180 gram 2 LP vinyl box set.\r\n
      \r\n
Mastered from the original master tapes, pressed on MoFi SuperVinyl at RTI, and strictly numbered and limited, this definitive reissue enhances every element of a double album that established new possibilities for studio recording techniques. You'll hear wider and deeper soundstages, more separation between instruments, and a drastically broadened dynamic range. If ever a jazz album can be said to have gone to outer space and back, this is it.\r\n
      \r\n
Davis conceived Bitches Brew by having the musicians stand in a semi-circle, where he pointed at them with vague directions for tempo, solos, and cues. The collective improvisation and interplay spawned a galaxy of melodies and grooves that were later spliced together by producer Ted Macero. Here, these distinct creations take shape with utmost realism. Compositions stretch across jet-black backgrounds and paint abstract canvases on par with those of Axis : Bold As Love and Abraxas. Juxtaposed percussion, loose jams, and melodic segues explode with impressionistic verve.\r\n
      \r\n
Bitches Brew also boasts visionary artwork. By design, the lavish packaging and gorgeous presentation of the UD1S Bitches Brew pressing befit such extremely select status. Housed in a deluxe box, it features special foil-stamped jackets and faithful-to-the-original graphics that illuminate the splendor of the recording. No expense is spared. Aurally and visually, it exists as a curatorial artifact meant to be preserved, touched, and examined. It is made for discerning listeners that prize sound quality and production, and who desire to fully immerse themselves in everything surrounding the album, from the images to the finishes. And this is one effort where every last detail matters.\r\n
Gathering a Hall of Fame-worthy lineup of musicians and tweaking it according to his desires, Davis follows through on his idea to "put together the greatest rock and roll band you ever heard" on Bitches Brew. Central to his proposition is the presence of two (and sometimes three) drummers and two bassists, a tactical move that makes rhythms a central focus. Akin to the futuristic album cover art, the drum-driven suites head toward distant universes and uncharted territories. At once hypnotizing and grooving, they chart maverick adventures via quixotic rock, funk, and R&B elements.\r\n
      \r\n
Conceptually, Davis described Bitches Brew as "a novel without words" and "an incredible journey of pain, joy, sorrow, hate, passion, and love." The vast psychedelic expanses of warped echoes, liquid reverb, and tape loops confirm such ambitious contrasts of light and dark, fear and hope. Yet the most absolute characteristic of the watershed effort lies in how it resists definitive interpretation and encourages free thought the very principles with which Davis conceived the everlasting beauty and fascination that remains Bitches Brew.\r\n
Don't miss the rare opportunity to experience the album at its full potential, a dream fully realized by Mobile Fidelity.\r\n

More About Mobile Fidelity UltraDisc One-Step and Why It Is Superior\r\n
      \r\n
Instead of utilizing the industry-standard three-step lacquer process, Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab's new UltraDisc One-Step (UD1S) uses only one step, bypassing two processes of generational loss. While three-step processing is designed for optimum yield and efficiency, UD1S is created for the ultimate in sound quality. Just as Mobile Fidelity pioneered the UHQR (Ultra High-Quality Record) with JVC in the 1980s, UD1S again represents another state-of-the-art advance in the record-manufacturing process. MFSL engineers begin with the original master tapes and meticulously cut a set of lacquers. These lacquers are used to create a very fragile, pristine UD1S stamper called a "convert". Delicate "converts" are then formed into the actual record stampers, producing a final product that literally and figuratively brings you closer to the music. By skipping the additional steps of pulling another positive and an additional negative, as done in the three-step process used in standard pressings, UD1S produces a final LP with the lowest noise floor possible today. The removal of the additional two steps of generational loss in the plating process reveals tremendous amounts of extra musical detail and dynamics, which are otherwise lost due to the standard copying process. The exclusive nature of these very limited pressings guarantees that every UD1S pressing serves as an immaculate replica of the lacquer sourced directly from the original master tape. Every conceivable aspect of vinyl production is optimized to produce the most perfect record album available today.\r\n
      \r\n
      MoFi SuperVinyl\r\n
      \r\n
Developed by NEOTECH and RTI, MoFi SuperVinyl is the most exacting-to-specification vinyl compound ever devised. Analog lovers have never seen (or heard) anything like it. Extraordinarily expensive and extremely painstaking to produce, the special proprietary compound addresses two specific areas of improvement : noise floor reduction and enhanced groove definition. The vinyl composition features a new carbonless dye (hold the disc up to the light and see) and produces the world's quietest surfaces. This high-definition formula also allows for the creation of cleaner grooves that are indistinguishable from the original lacquer. MoFi SuperVinyl provides the closest approximation of what the label's engineers hear in the mastering lab.

      - Pink Floyd at Pompeii - MCMLXXII !\r\n
      - Groundbreaking 1972 film directed by Adrian Maben !\r\n
      - Capturing Pink Floyd performing an intimate concert at the ancient Roman amphitheatre in Pompeii, Italy !\r\n
      - Digitally remastered from the original 35 mm footage, with enhanced audio newly mixed by producer / musician Steven Wilson !\r\n
      - Double LP features Wilson's new stereo mix !\r\n
      - Includes two bonus tracks !\r\n
      \r\n
"Ever since my dad brainwashed me as a kid by playing The Dark Side of the Moon on repeat, Pink Floyd has been my favorite band. They are my "Beatles", deeply ingrained in my musical DNA. I first saw Pompeii in a grainy print at a local cinema. It made an incredible impression on me with its untethered and exploratory rock music made by four musicians that seemed to epitomise the notion of intellectual cool. It was an honor to remix the soundtrack to accompany Lana Topham's incredible restoration of the film, which looks like it could've been filmed yesterday". - Steven Wilson\r\n
      \r\n
Pink Floyd at Pompeii is a 1972 concert film directed by Adrian Maben featuring Pink Floyd performing at the ancient Roman amphitheatre in Pompeii, Italy. The band performs a blistering live set to an empty stadium, aside from themselves and the crew. The main footage is filmed in and around the amphitheatre over four days in October 1971. The film was re-released in 1974 with additional studio material of the band working on The Dark Side of the Moon, along with interviews at Abbey Road Studios.\r\n
      \r\n
Pink Floyd at Pompeii - MCMLXXII is an incredible document of a band on the cusp of superstardom. The film has been restored from the original 35mm cut negative from 1972 in 4K meaning the scan is direct from the film that was rolling in the cameras on that hot day in Pompeii.\r\n
      \r\n
Filmed in October 1971 without an audience the performance was the first live concert to take place at Pompeii, and features "Echoes", "A Saucerful of Secrets", and "Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun", among others. The film has undergone a full restoration: hand restored, frame-by-frame, from the original 35 mm cut negative recently discovered within Pink Floyd's own archives.\r\n
      \r\n
Lana Topham, Director of Restoration for Pink Floyd, said : "Since 1994, I have searched for the elusive film rushes of Pink Floyd At Pompeii, so the recent discovery of the 1972 original 35mm cut negative was a very special moment. The newly restored version presents the first full (nearly) 90 minute cut, combining the 60-minute source edit of the performance with the additional Abbey Road Studios documentary segments filmed shortly after".\r\n
      \r\n
Steven Wilson has remixed the soundtrack in Dolby Atmos, 5.1 and stereo. The stereo mix features on the new 2 LP vinyl set, while the Atmos and 5.1 mixes are included on a separate Blu-ray edition that includes two cuts of Pink Floyd at Pompeii : the 85 minute feature film and the 60 minute concert. The two bonus tracks on the stereo 2 LP are "Careful With that Axe, Eugene Alternate Take" and "A Saucerful of Secrets Unedited".

      \r\n

Donny Hathaway's second album, released in April 1971, can be considered the antithesis of a "sophomore slump". The collection of cover songs found the artist not only spotlighting his talent, but his tastes. Among the songs he chose to cover on the LP was Leon Russell's "A Song for You", taken from Russell's debut album which was barely a year old at the time. Hathaway's impassioned version is so strong that many listeners are still shocked to discover that the song is indeed a cover.\r\n
      \r\n
With songs by Billy Preston "Little Girl", Mac Davis "I Believe in Music" and Van McCoy Gladys Knight and the Pips 1964 hit, "Giving Up", the record didn't exactly ignite the charts, peaking at N° 73 for the week of July 24, 1971 the N° 1 album in America that week: Carole King's Tapestry. Hathaway's second LP is so much more than its chart performance.\r\n
      \r\n
Atlantic producer Jerry Wexler took over most of the production duties, with Hathaway producing one track, the self-penned "Take a Love Song". One of just three solo studio albums Hathaway recorded before his tragic death in 1979, Donny Hathaway is a truly timeless classic that will never go out of style.\r\n

      - Creedence Clearwater Revival "Absolute Originals" !\r\n
      - Back in print on 180 gram 45 RPM !\r\n
      - Pressed at Quality Record Pressings QRP !\r\n
      - The choicest tracks from the seven-record CCR studio catalog !\r\n
      - Includes a bonus 45 RPM disc with selected wide stereo mixes !\r\n
      - Mastered by Kevin Gray and Steve Hoffman from the original analog tapes !\r\n
      \r\n
One of the most successful reissue box sets in the history of Analogue Productions, the can't-miss CCR Absolute Originals 180 gram 45 RPM Box Set, an eight-disc classic, is back in print ! This set highlights the choicest tracks from each of these seven albums at 45 RPM. With so few songs on each side (some releases have only one song per side), your cartridge is going to track better and ultimately SING sweeter!\r\n
      \r\n
With the biggest hits from each record (packaged in replicas of the original jackets), you'll get in-depth liners by rock critic extraordinare Ben Fong-Torres of Rolling Stone fame, and photos by Baron Wolman and Didi Zill, both of whom were there to document CCR "back in the day". There is also an essay by Steve Hoffman, who along with Kevin Gray, remastered these gems at AcousTech Mastering. We've also included a bonus record that includes rare wide stereo mixes of "Bad Moon Rising" and "Proud Mary", cut at 45 of course.\r\n
      \r\n
These are, simply put, the best-sounding versions of these great songs that have appeared on vinyl. The hits are iconic : "Bad Moon Rising", "Proud Mary", "Down On The Corner", "Fortunate Son", "The Midnight Special", "I Heard It Through The Grapevine", "Run Through The Jungle", "Green River", "Have You Ever Seen The Rain" and more !\r\n
      \r\n
Read what reviewers have said about the previous incarnation of this acclaimed box set !\r\n
      \r\n
"...Now comes Absolute Originals...the sonic results are so damn wonderful ...everything is that much more immediate: dynamics are more explosive, textures more complex, there's tons of energy but everything is warm and sassy, and Fogerty's vocal is more present and lifelike. What more could a hardcore fan want ?" - Wayne Garcia, The Absolute Sound, August / September 2005, Issue 155\r\n
      \r\n
"The quality is outstanding both in terms of sound, pressing quality and packaging and not to be missed under any circumstances. For those who have yet to hear them, Kassem has ... in a box set, (issued) many of the greatest hits by Creedence Clearwater Revival on 45 RPM... you just wouldn't believe what's in the grooves of these black gold records. Leave it to the collaborative efforts of Kassem/Gray/Hoffman to offer up something very special. A tip of the vinyl-loving hat gentleman". - Richard Foster, Hi-Fi+\r\n

"I own a few test pressings from Chad's original run of individual LP reissues, and I can vouch for their superb sound and clean surfaces but what impressed me most was the high quality of the booklet that comes with the boxed version. Whoever was the art director of that project deserves a raise, and Chad deserves thanks for creating a package that exceeds our expectations rather than just tossing off some junky scan". - Art Dudley, Stereophile, August 2004

"Kevin Gray's take on this progressive rock masterpiece magnifies some of the album's more intricate elements. Between shimmering acoustics, textural electric sitar, and biting leads, Steve Howe's guitar work throughout this album is versatile as ever. There's impeccable separation to the harmonies, often positioning Jon Anderson's airy lead vocal perfectly in the center. If I had to pick one particular moment of wowness on this pressing that stood out above the rest, the 'Eclipse' movement from 'And You And I' was borderline tear-jerking. The accented kick drum, ethereal pedal steel guitar, and Mellotron sways majestically and meshes perfectly together... This Analogue Productions pressing was the first time in ages that I closed my eyes and locked in with pure enjoyment, something I resonated with when I first heard (The album) in my early adolescence". - Music = 11/11; Sound = 10/11 - Dylan Peggin, TrackingAngle.com. "... at the first you're just aware of this clarity which is really quite startlingly good, you know... there is a noise floor, but it's it's vanishingly low... you'll hear other things that you haven't heard before because of it... the album is staggeringly good. It's, you know, it's one of the best prog rock one of the best albums ever made. Simple as that. In my opinion, it's absolutely beautiful. Absolutely stunningly beautiful. The Analogue Productions Atlantic 75th Anniversary takes that and it just it just removes a few decades and a few veils and a few levels away levels of detachment away from the studio setting. And it makes you feel like you really are in that studio listening". - Dave Denyer, YouTube video\r\n
      \r\n
Yes's 1972 3-track recording masterpiece, Close to the Edge, presents a snapshot of an adventurous rock band at the peak of its powers, daring to push itself musically, both as individuals and as a unit.\r\n
      \r\n
The first half of the 1970s was an especially fertile period for British progressive rock, laying claim to classics such as Tarkus, Selling England by the Pound, Larks' Tongues in Aspic, The Dark Side of the Moon, and Thick as a Brick. Collectively these and other works represent the best British progressive rock had to offer. Yet, many reviewers cite Close to the Edge as the ultimate prog rock album.\r\n
      \r\n
Author and music journalist Will Romano writes: "Yes had previously penned epic tracks for The Yes Album and Fragile, but nothing on the magnitude of the musical gems appearing on Close to the Edge. It's something of a small miracle perhaps even magic that the virtuoso quintet crafted such a cohesive and compelling album during an often-hectic recording process that very nearly relegated this monumental work to the dustbin of history".\r\n
      \r\n
The album's centrepiece is the 18 minute title track, with themes and lyrics inspired by the Herman Hesse novel Siddhartha. Side two contains two non-conceptual tracks, the folk-inspired "And You and I" and the comparatively straightforward rocker "Siberian Khatru". Original drummer Bill Bruford found the album particularly laborious to make, which culminated in his decision to quit the band after it was recorded, to join King Crimson.\r\n
      \r\n
Close to the Edge became the band's greatest commercial success at the time of release. It peaked at No. 4 on the U.K. Albums Chart and N° 3 on the Billboard 200 in the United States, the highest position Yes has reached on the latter chart.\r\n
      \r\n
In 2020, Close to the Edge was ranked at N° 445 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.\r\n
      \r\n

      \r\n
After half a century of crafting an astonishing array of chart-topping albums and embarking on triumphant global tours, Yes's The Yes Album marks the origin of their meteoric rise, through the recording sessions for this 1971 masterpiece.\r\n
      \r\n
With an ever interesting line-up of world class musicianship, this highly regarded chapter of Yes consisted of Jon Anderson (vocals), Chris Squire (bass / vocals), Bill Bruford (drums), Tony Kaye (keyboards) and the introduction of Steve Howe (guitars / vocals), The Yes Album was the band's breakthrough album, ultimately remaining on the sales charts for 34 weeks, selling more than 1 million copies.\r\n
      \r\n
This important piece of music consists of six amazing Yes workouts such as the definitive album opener "Yours Is No Disgrace", the hard rocking "Starship Trooper" and the brilliant "I've Seen All Good People" plus the massive hit single "Your Move." From this moment on, there was no looking back for this superstar quintet.\r\n
      \r\n
Yes enthusiasts were superlatively rewarded with even more progressive rock favorites as the brilliant acoustic driven guitar work of Steve Howe's "Clap", Chris Squire and Jon Anderson's superb "Perpetual Change" and the jazz-rock fusion of "A Venture" truly made this album a standout.\r\n
      \r\n
The album was a critical success and a major commercial breakthrough for Yes, who had been at risk of being dropped by Atlantic due to the commercial failures of their first two albums. It reached N° 4 in the United Kingdom and N° 40 in the United States, and was later certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America for surpassing 1 million copies.\r\n
      \r\n
Analogue Productions is proud to offer the definitive reissue deluxe 180 gram 45 RPM (2 LP) of The Yes Album. For Yes fans, this is a can't-miss addition to your album collection.

Fragile was Yes' breakthrough album, propelling them in a matter of weeks from a cult act to an international phenomenon. Not coincidentally, it also marked the point where all of the elements of the music (and more) that would define the group's success for more than a decade fell into place fully formed, writes AllMusic, giving Fragile a 5-Star rating.\r\n
      \r\n
Propelled by the timeless hit "Roundabout," Yes' fourth album, Fragile, became an instant classic and is undoubtedly one of prog-rock's finest moments. It was the first Yes record to feature Rick Wakeman on keyboards and the first to display the inimitable artwork of Roger Dean. Here's the ultimate way to enjoy one of Yes's most popular and enjoyable albums.\r\n

This Analogue Productions (Atlantic Series) reissue of Fragile is a standout for your collection. First, we turned to Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio to cut lacquers from the original master tape. "Prog Rock never sounded that fat, that open, that spacey... the absolute highlight for me, personally, was the drumming. It's absolutely those are explosions it knocks you off your seat. It's killer!" - Michael Ludwigs, 45 RPM Audiophile. YouTube video.\r\n
      \r\n
Yes' 90125 was a departure from their progressive style but it introduced the band to a new generation of fans, reaching No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and N° 16 on the U.K. albums chart. The 1983 album remains their best-selling album with more than 3 million copies sold in the U.S. "Cinema" earned the group a Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance, while "Owner Of A Lonely Heart" was the band's first and only single to reach N° 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.\r\n
      \r\n
Named for its Atco catalog number, 90125, the album the band's 11th studio effort it was born out of the band's self-reinvention. Begun as Cinema, a new band by Chris Squire and Alan White, the project grew to include the slick production of Trevor Horn, the new blood (and distinctly '80s guitar sound) of Trevor Rabin, and eventually the trademark vocals of returning founder Jon Anderson. His late entry insured that Rabin and Horn had a heavy influence on the sound. The album also marked the return of prodigal keyboardist Tony Kaye, whose crisp synth work on "Changes" marked the band's definitive break with its art rock roots.\r\n
      \r\n
"Owner Of A Lonely Heart" was a huge crossover hit, and its orchestral break has been relentlessly sampled by rappers ever since. The vocal harmonies of "Leave It" and the beautifully sprawling "Hearts" are additional high points.\r\n
      \r\n
90125 is a significant and well-regarded album in the Yes discography.\r\n
      \r\n
Analogue Productions is proud to offer the definitive reissue deluxe 180 gram 45 RPM 2 LP of 90125. For Yes fans, this is a can't-miss addition to your album collection.

      \r\n
Seventy years ago, Carl Perkins walked into Sun Records and cut "Blue Suede Shoes," the beginning of a rockabilly legend. Now, for the first time in decades, his Dance Album of Carl Perkins is coming to vinyl. This 180 gram deluxe 45 RPM, all-analog mono edition is cut from the original master tapes, mastered by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio, plated at RTI, pressed at Gotta Groove, and wrapped in a beautiful Stoughton Printing tip-on jacket.Intervention Records is proud to announce the first vinyl release in its Intervention Sun Records Hi-Fi Series, Carl Perkins' groundbreaking rockabilly classic, 1957's "Dance Album of Carl Perkins".\r\n
      \r\n
This December 2025 premium Mono vinyl release commemorates the 70th anniversary of Sun's Sam Phillips recording Carl Perkins' smash "Blue Suede Shoes," which was released as a single on New Year's Day 1956.\r\n
      \r\n
Dance Album isn't just full of legendary songs that gave birth to rock n' roll itself, many of these tunes are now rock standards that have stood the test of time. These iconic songs have been covered by Elvis Presley, The Beatles (as a band plus George, Paul, and Ringo solo), Johnny Cash, and so many more !\r\n
      \r\n
As great as many of these versions are from over the decades, arguably no one ever did these tunes with more swag than Carl himself on Dance Album!\r\n
      \r\n
The SMASH hits include Perkins-written classics such as "Blue Suede Shoes", "Honey Don't", "Matchbox", and "Everybody's Trying to Be My Baby". The album also includes Carl's covers of "Only You" and "Wrong Yo Yo."\r\n
      \r\n
Intervention worked closely with Sun Records and the Archive Team at Iron Mountain to compile a completely NEW set of A/B reel master tapes for this release. In the late 1960s, when Shelby Singleton purchased Sun Records from legendary Sam Phillips, the original 7" single master tape reels were compiled onto many different sets of 1/4" tapes. Identifying any one tape as "THE master" for a given song is no longer possible, but hours and hours were spent by Sun and IR's Shane Buettner listening to tapes and identifying the absolute best sounding tape version of each and every song. Kelly Pribble, Mark Berger, and Scott Delaney at Iron Mountain made flat 1/4" transfers at our direction to a newly minted set of 1/4" A/B reels for this release.\r\n
      \r\n
According to our collective research, Dance Album hasn't been cut to vinyl from analog tape at least since the early 1980s, but perhaps not since the 1960s ! No compiled A/B reels exist in the Sun archives, so our belief is that the many reels we listened to are indeed THE original master tapes ...\r\n
      \r\n
Due to being mono and packed with quick-paced songs, CoHEARent Audio's Kevin Gray was able to cut the entire program on a 12" 180 gram LP at 45 RPM for maximum sound quality making this a truly unique and utterly hi-fi experience for music lovers everywhere of every age.\r\n
      \r\n
The sound quality of these newly minted master tapes will stun anyone who thinks they know this iconic album. On IR's release, you hear everything put on tape by Sam Phillips at legendary Sun Studios for the first time. The vocals and instruments have a majesty and clarity that's unrivaled on any previous release, testament to Sam's extraordinary talents as a recording engineer.\r\n
      \r\n
This 180 gram 45 RPM release is pressed on ultra-quiet vinyl by boutique press Gotta Groove Records. RTI did the plating in a full 3-Step process to ensure the highest possible sound quality.\r\n
      \r\n
Of course IR's paid no less attention to the album art, and very special thanks are owed to Joe Goldmark, who loaned us his very-hard-to-find original jacket for color reference. The album art is of course restored by IR Art Director Tom Vadakan and authentically realized by the wizards at Stoughton Printing as a gorgeous Old-Style "Tip-On" jacket with authentic "brown-in" blanks.\r\n
      \r\n
In a first for IR, this release features liner notes written by Sun Records historian Colin Escott, who consulted on this release and was extremely generous with his time and knowledge throughout. Thank you Colin !

      \r\n
Stevie Nicks had much to prove when she stepped out on her own for the first time and crafted Bella Donna. Despite attaining superstar success with Fleetwood Mac, the singer often took a back seat to the band’s other members and, due to the group’s approach, faced limitations in getting her songs on an album. Along with Nicks’ status as a significant artistic force in her own right, that all changed with the timeless Bella Donna. \r\n
      \r\n
Sourced from the original analog master tapes, pressed at Fidelity Record Pressing in California, and strictly limited to 4000 numbered copies, Mobile Fidelity's UltraDisc One-Step 180 gram 45 RPM (2 LP) box set of the 1981 benchmark plays with superb transparency, dynamics, and detail. Benefitting from extraordinary groove definition, an ultra-low noise floor, and extremely quiet surfaces, this vinyl edition captures what went down in the studio with tremendous realism and presence.\r\n
      \r\n
Spotlighting the striking visual elements that further make Bella Donna immediately identifiable, the gorgeous presentation of this UD1S version confirms the reissue's definitive standing. Housed in a deluxe slipcase, it features premium foil-stamped jackets and faithful-to-the-original graphics that illuminate the splendor of the recording. This keepsake is for listeners who want to immerse themselves in everything involved with the album, including the celebrated cover art depicting a gowned Nicks staring at the camera, holding a perched cockatoo, and standing beside a tambourine adorned with roses. The hypnotic color scheme dark blues, deep violets, creamy whites, golden yellows mirrors the spirit, mysticism, strength, and contrasts of the music within. \r\n
      \r\n
Teaming with simpatico producer Jimmy Iovine and fellow rock ’n’ roll icon Tom Petty, Nicks asserted control over the creative process for the first time in her career. She allowed the material to develop spontaneously a characteristic you readily experience via the natural, balanced sonics and raw emotionalism. Nicks’ organic methods owed to both her desire to collaborate with the studio musicians as well as necessity. \r\n
      \r\n
Because the personnel who played on the record had demanding schedules, no one had time to sit around and get take after take in pursuit of perfectionist goals or technical aims. The warm, extended, tonally rich soundscapes you hear instrumentation that feels live, vocals that float and yet sound altogether innate, synergy between the players that places them in the same room together remain as integral to Bella Donna as its personalized songs. \r\n
      \r\n
About those songs. Nicks recorded 16 tracks and picked from material she wrote as far back as a decade prior. Though she deemed Bella Donna a “sort of chronology of [her] life”, she felt proudest about its songs’ ability to speak to issues to which everyone could relate. Her intuition proved prophetic. The public embraced her solo debut en masse, sending the album to No. 1 on its way to selling more than four million copies numbers that make Bella Donna more successful in the U.S. than any Fleetwood Mac effort apart from Rumours. \r\n
      \r\n
The enthusiastic commercial and critical reception was well deserved. From a musical perspective, the playing on Bella Donna alone warrants the highest praise. The makeshift band on a majority of the fare consists of guitarist Waddy Watchel, drummer Russ Kunkel, organist Benmont Tench, bassist Bob Glaub, percussionist Bobbye Hall, and guitarist Davey Johnstone all of whom claim sterling resumes and tackle their parts with utmost professionalism, restraint, and chemistry. Nicks also wrangled E Street Band pianist Roy Bittan to sit in on five songs, and started the beginning of a long relationship with backing vocalists Sharon Celani and Lori Perry.\r\n
      \r\n
For the first single, “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around”, Nicks duetted with its author, Tom Petty, and nearly all the Heartbreakers, with legendary bassist Donald “Duck” Dunn filling in for Ron Blair. The sweeping, sassy tune reached N° 3 on the Billboard charts and captures the fiercely independent mood Nicks embraces throughout the record. She, Petty, and the Heartbreakers hit upon similar aural gold on the shivering “Outside the Rain”, which echoes toughness, sinew, and determination. \r\n
      \r\n
On the follow-up single, “Leather and Lace”, Nicks turns to another famous luminary in the form of Eagles vocalist-drummer and former romantic interest, Don Henley. Filled with disparate images, the acoustic-based ballad climbed to N° 6 and remains notable for its lack of embellishment. Reflective, conversational, and pure, the song blooms with heartfelt emotion and honesty. When Nicks sings, “I am stronger than you know”, it doubles as the mantra for Bella Donna. \r\n
      \r\n
Indeed, Nicks’ gritty and glam-kissed vocals on this set rank among the finest performances of her career. She invests in every word, summons her trademark rasp on cue, and explores a wide range with seeming effortlessness. Nicks weaves magical spells and haunting breathiness amid ghostly webs of notes on “Kind of Woman”; conveys heavy caution, contemplation, and consequence on the slow-building title track; and throws herself with abandon into “After the Glitter Fades”, a Top 40 lamentation framed by piano motifs, pedal-steel fills, and country accents. \r\n
      \r\n
As for the record’s signature moment, the contagious favorite Rolling Stone ranks the 217th Greatest Song of All Time ? Nicks finds rare air on “Edge of Seventeen”, its helicopter-chop riffs and chugging rhythms corresponding with her ascending and descending vocal flights, call-and-response harmonies, and throaty timbre. The definition of cool, she remains poised throughout, probing grief in an inimitable fashion that sounds more pertinent now than four decades ago. \r\n

More About Mobile Fidelity UltraDisc One-Step and Why It Is Superior \r\n
      \r\n
Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab’s UltraDisc One-Step (UD1S) technique bypasses generational losses inherent to the traditional three-step plating process by removing two steps: the production of father and mother plates, which are created to yield numerous stampers from each lacquer that is cut. For UD1S plating, stampers also called “converts” are made directly from the lacquers. Since each lacquer yields only one stamper, multiple lacquers need to be cut. Mobile Fidelity's UD1S process produces a final LP with the lowest-possible noise floor. The removal of two steps of the plating process also reveals musical details and dynamics that would otherwise be lost due to the standard multi-step process. With UD1S, every aspect of vinyl production is optimized to produce the best-sounding vinyl album available today.\r\n
      \r\n
Why Isn’t This UD1S Pressed on MoFi SuperVinyl ?\r\n
      \r\n
Bella Donna is among the Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab UltraDisc One-Step sets released since the advent of MoFi SuperVinyl that is pressed on 180 gram black vinyl rather than MoFi SuperVinyl. Why ? Quite simply, it sounds better on 180 gram black vinyl. After closely auditioning Bella Donna on several different vinyl profiles a time-consuming and expensive endeavor no other label pursues MoFi’s expert engineers determined the music on this 1981 album translates with superior definition, clarity, presence, dynamics, and balance on this format. The opening of MoFi’s sister plant, Fidelity Record Pressing and its peerless ability to press dead-quiet 180 gram black vinyl means the label’s engineers now have more options when it comes to high-quality vinyl. All of which benefits the original artists and their intent, and you, the listener.
