| Input props | [ "produit" => App\Entity\Produit {#2063 -id: 2225 -nom: "Thriller - UltraDisc One-Step (Box Set 1 LP) 33 RPM" -informationComplementaire: null -description: """ Musicians :\r\n Michael Jackson (vocals), David Williams, Dean Parks, Paul Jackson, Steve Lukather (guitar), Greg Phillinganes, James Ingram, Louis Johnson, Steven Ray (handclaps), Anthony Marinelli, Bill Wolfer, Brian Banks, David Foster, David Paich, Greg Smith, Michael Boddicker, Rod Temperton, Steve Porcaro (synthesizer), Greg Phillinganes, James Ingram, Tom Bahler (keyboards), David Paich (piano), Larry Williams (saxophone, flute), Bill Reichenbach (trombone), Gary Grant, Jerry Hey (trumpet, flugelhorn), Louis Johnson, Louis Johnson, Steve Lukather (bass), Becky Lopez, Bunny Hull, Howard Hewett, James Ingram, Janet Jackson, Julia Waters, LaToya Jackson, Maxine Waters, Oren Waters (backing vocals), Paulinho Da Costa (percussion), Jeff Porcaro, Ndugu Chancler (drums)\r\n \r\n Putting into perspective the incalculable impact and pioneering significance of the best-selling album of all time Michael Jackson's "Thriller" has never been easy. Though Thriller lays claim to mind-boggling statistics that serve as reminders of how pervasive and indispensable it remains to music snobs and casual listeners alike, its essence always traces back to the greatness, power, and scope of the music. Now, as it celebrates its 40th anniversary, the record that reimagined pop; united audiences; made strides towards achieving racial equality; established the video as an artistic and commercial format; and taught the world how to dance sounds even more invigorating than it did during the advent of the Walkman.\r\n \r\n Mastered from the original analog master tapes, pressed at RTI, and limited to 40000 numbered copies, Mobile Fidelity's UltraDisc One-Step 180 gram 33 RPM LP set does for Thriller what Jackson's unforgettable appearance on the "Motown 25" TV special in 1983 did for his career: It makes the music personal, human, desirable, relatable, imaginative the definition of cool. This extraordinary reissue does so by presenting the songs in lifelike fashion, zeroing in on the fundamentals with laser focus, and magnifying the brilliance of the production, arrangements, and vocals in ways that let everyone experience Thriller as if hearing the album for the first time.\r\n \r\n Surpassing the sonics of earlier reissues and pressings, Mobile Fidelity's 180 gram LP set strips away prior limitations and provides a clear, dynamic view of a landmark that crashed through every conceivable barrier and permanently transformed music, culture, and society. The expanse and depth of the soundstage, range of detail, percussive textures, air around the vocals, and natural decay of notes come through with demonstration-grade realism.\r\n \r\n The gorgeous packaging of the Thriller UD1S pressing befits the album's select status. Housed in an open-ended slipcase, the set features a special foil-stamped jacket and faithful-to-the-original graphics that illuminate the splendor of the recording. Aurally and visually, this reissue exists as a curatorial artifact meant to be preserved and examined. It is made for discerning listeners that prize sound quality and production, and who desire to fully immerse themselves in everything involved with the album.\r\n \r\n Given that no album released during the past four decades even approaches the magnitude of Thriller, everything about it remains important. Numbers even the "40" tied to its anniversary – don't even tell half the story. The 1982 blockbuster has sold more than 34 million copies in the U.S.; globally, it has moved upwards of 70 million units. Thriller dominated the 1984 Grammy Awards, winning a record-breaking eight trophies and sweeping every major category. It repeated the feat at the American Music Awards. Seven of its nine songs were released as singles; each charted in the Top 10. Perhaps most astonishingly, Thriller topped the Top 200 Albums chart for 37 weeks during a 59 week stretch. Fast forward 24 years, and the album was the biggest-selling catalog title of 2008.\r\n \r\n The record's unimpeachable accolades and archival standing help provide another frame of reference. Acclaimed upon arrival, Thriller topped The Village Voice's comprehensive Pazz & Jop poll in 1983. Included in both the Library of Congress' National Recording Registry and the Grammy Hall of Fame, Thriller was ranked by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at N° 3 on its Definitive 200 Albums of All Time. Rolling Stone named it the 12th Greatest Album of All Time. TIME deemed it "the greatest pop album of all time". The Independent called it "the most inspiring album of all time".\r\n \r\n hriller proved as influential as it did inspiring. Its unparalleled success, dazzling style, and sleek architecture changed every facet of culture and entertainment. The reverberations echoed throughout society. Thriller crossed over to mainstream channels and white audiences with a degree that no Black musician managed in decades (if ever); prompted MTV to give Black artists a widespread platform; elevated choreography and dance to higher-level artforms; shattered long-standing racial boundaries; and reconceptualized music via a genre- and color-blind blend of fleet pop, funk, disco, soul, and rock sent up with cinematic panache, oversized ambition, and dynamic energy.\r\n \r\n Its effect on multitudes of subsequent artists cannot be overstated. Thriller opened up a new galaxy in which Prince soon strolled. It's the same universe that Usher, Maxwell, and Jamiroquai joined in the ‘90s and that contemporary headliners like Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, and Bruno Mars orbit today. Their style-blurring identities, R&B-rooted foundations, and interdisciplinary approaches directly link to those on Thriller. Notably, the album's first single "The Girl Is Mine", a duet and co-write with Beatles legend Paul McCartney captured the record's unwillingness to cater to a specific race, generation, class, or style. Eddie Van Halen at the time, the world's premier rock guitarist performed a similar bridge role by supplying the electrifying solo on "Beat It".\r\n \r\n Jackson, Quincy Jones, and company do the rest. Drop the needle on any track on Thriller and the insatiable desire to move takes hold. So do sensations of familiarity, pleasure, fun, and soulfulness. Be it the breathless, bass-laden swagger of the Moonwalking "Billie Jean"; horn-accented, post-disco slide of the gossip critique "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'"; rousing tempo of the lush, sequin-adorned "P. Y. T. (Pretty Young Thing)"; gentle balladry and liquid vocal phrasing of "Human Nature"; vivid hybrid of funk-disco and horror-film drama of the title track; or streetwise strut and rhythmic fantasia of "Beat It," Thriller never lets up.\r\n \r\n More About Mobile Fidelity UltraDisc One-Step and Why It Is Superior \r\n Instead of utilizing the industry-standard three-step lacquer process, Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab's new UltraDisc One-Step (UD1S) uses only one step, bypassing two processes of generational loss. While three-step processing is designed for optimum yield and efficiency, UD1S is created for the ultimate in sound quality. Just as Mobile Fidelity pioneered the UHQR (Ultra High-Quality Record) with JVC in the 1980s, UD1S again represents another state-of-the-art advance in the record-manufacturing process. MFSL engineers begin with the original master tapes and meticulously cut a set of lacquers. These lacquers are used to create a very fragile, pristine UD1S stamper called a "convert." Delicate "converts" are then formed into the actual record stampers, producing a final product that literally and figuratively brings you closer to the music. By skipping the additional steps of pulling another positive and an additional negative, as done in the three-step process used in standard pressings, UD1S produces a final LP with the lowest noise floor possible today. The removal of the additional two steps of generational loss in the plating process reveals tremendous amounts of extra musical detail and dynamics, which are otherwise lost due to the standard copying process. The exclusive nature of these very limited pressings guarantees that every UD1S pressing serves as an immaculate replica of the lacquer sourced directly from the original master tape. Every conceivable aspect of vinyl production is optimized to produce the most perfect record album available today. The releases thus capture landmark shows in McCartney's unrivalled history over a period of more than 30 years, and will be issued by MPL / Capitol/ Universal Music Enterprises.\r\n \r\n The triple LP Wings Over America documented one of the most ambitious and expansive world tours ever mounted to that point, and was recorded on the North American leg of the Wings Over The World excursion. That saw McCartney and the band perform for over 600000 people at 31 shows in the US and Canada, culminating in three concerts at The Forum in Los Angeles.\r\n \r\n The album was last reissued in 2013 as part of the Paul McCartney Archive Collection series, and won a Grammy for Boxed or Special Limited-Edition Package. But once Street Songs took the charts by storm that year, the world soon knew about what became Rick James’ signature style. And how. True to its name, Street Songs blends outspoken sexuality, brazen attitude, and edgy commentary amid contagious R&B-fueled arrangements that simultaneously aim for the hips, head, and various nether regions. And it’s never sounded better. \r\n \r\n Sourced from the original master tapes, strictly limited to 4000 numbered copies, pressed at Fidelity Record Pressing, and housed in a Stoughton gatefold jacket, Mobile Fidelity’s 180 gram 45 RPM (2 LP) set presents James’ platinum-certified effort in audiophile quality for the first time. Playing with crisp dynamics, lively textures, airy headroom, and revealing clarity, this collectible edition of the record that stayed at the N° 1 spot on the R&B Album Charts for 20 weeks invites you to get closer to music that beckons you to turn your space into a private dance floor. \r\n \r\n Then again, you’ll likely be so taken by how the taut bass lines, snappy rhythms, and four-on-the-floor beats all rendered in stunning detail and with full-bodied architecture come across with such accuracy and presence, you might stay pinned to your seat. On this pressing, the soundstaging, imaging, and lit-fuse energy of Street Songs reach new heights. Everything from the rubbery feel of the guitar lines to the depth of James’ temperature-raising vocals to the scale of the horn charts emerges as if James and his ace session crew set up in your room.\r\n \r\n The Buffalo native and his ensemble waste no time getting their message across. On the album-opening “Give It to Me Baby”, James and company lay down a mix of sleek funk and pulsing disco that practically activates the bright lights of a discotheque and stimulates the libido of anyone within earshot. Having reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Soul charts, the song is pure sex and just one of the carnal delights on a record that embraces the subject as fearlessly as James does his identity. \r\n \r\n Of course, the most famous of James’ erotic excursions the timeless “Super Freak” hit N° 1 on Hot Dance Club Play charts, N° 16 on the Hot 100, and, later, N° 153 on Rolling Stone’s list of the Top 500 Songs of All Time. Bolstered by a quavering keyboard theme and electro riffs, the much-sampled track worms itself inside your muscles with smile-inducing subject matter, gliding vocals, nimble movements, a hot tenor-saxophone solo, and backing vocals by the Temptations. \r\n \r\n The iconic Motown group isn’t the only celebrated guest artist on the Grammy-nominated Street Songs. James’ then-labelmate, Stevie Wonder, lends harmonica to the frank sociopolitical narrative on “Mr. Policeman”, a protest tune that also manages to stroll ’n’ strut via simmering organ, staggering brass accents, and James’ gritty vocal performance. In addition to contributing backing vocals on several cuts, Teena Marie turns in one of the album’s signature moments on “Fire and Desire,” a romantic old-school duet with James that impresses with smoothness, sensitivity, and smokiness. \r\n \r\n High-profile colleagues aside, James remains the undisputed star, a figure whose leather-and-latex attire, braided hair, and natural swagger made him misunderstood by some in the mainstream and embraced by everyone in the know as a true original. As a testament to his magnetism and skills, his charisma and rawness seemingly seep through every note, whether on the balladic sweep of the risqué “Make Love to Me” or strident, poke-and-prod persuasion of the moonwalking “Call Me Up”. \r\n \r\n On the closing “Below the Funk (Pass the J),” an uptempo autobiographical tale that addresses the visionary musician’s second-favorite love, the singer acknowledges his upbringing and inseparable connection with his roots an homage to where he began and a toast to where he’s gone.\r\n \r\n Rick James, keepin’ it real on Street Songs, still as real as it gets. Music = 9/11; Sound = 10/11 – Michael Fremer, www.musicangle.com\r\n \r\n "…this effort from 2000 shows Jones conjuring such magic with the material that she deserves as much attention for reworking standards as do Carly Simon or Linda Ronstadt. Kicking off with Steely Dan's 'Show Biz Kids,' and with appearances by Joe Jackson and Ben Folds, among the highpoints is the Beatles' 'For No One' that ranks as among the finest Beatles cover ever. And considering that they number in the tens of thousands, that's about as high as praise gets". Recording = 5/5; Performances = 5/5 Album of the Month – Ken Kessler, Hi-Fi News, April 2008\r\n \r\n "The Rickie Lee Jones 45rpm is AWESOME UNREAL AMAZING!!! I have to get a backup copy. I'll play this one to death". – Danny Kaey, Positive-Feedback Online\r\n \r\n Not since Billie Holiday has there been a vocalist who so completely transforms a song into her own. On It's Like This, eclectic folkie Rickie Lee Jones envelops standards, showtunes, '70s soul, and even slick jazz-rock, interpreting them with her familiar childlike, breathy shouts. In a very similar vein as 1991's Pop Pop, Jones pulls together a collection of diverse songs from throughout the 20th century and gives them a sparse, fragile spin, kind of like Diana Krall and Bjork sharing coffee at an all-night diner. Produced by Bruce Brody (who has also worked with Maria McKee and Bette Midler), this album is really a showcase for the dynamic vocalist - her voice pitching and yawing like a sloop far out at sea. Several notable artists scatter themselves unobtrusively throughout the album like Joe Jackson, Ben Folds, John Pizzarelli, and Taj Mahal; each lend a subtle bass line or harmony vocal, cautiously not stepping on any of Jones' delicate lines.
